Death of the Rev. M. O'Connell, P. P.
The Tuam Herald, Saturday August 28, 1920.
We regret the death of the Rev. Michael O'Connell, the respected parish priest of Carnacon, Ballyglass, Co. Mayo, which occurred at his residence on Monday. Deceased was educated at St. Jarlath's and appointed Professor and subsequently President of our great Ecclesiastical College, succeeding in that important position the Venerable Archdeacon Kilkenny, who came after Canon Ulick J. Bourke, who succeeded Canon O'Brien, P. P. of Athenry. Father O'Connell was extremely popular in Tuam and took a prominent and useful part in the great work of education. He succeeded Fr. Brown as P. P., of Carnacon. The funeral on Wednesday testified to the esteem in which deceased was held by his fellow priests and by his parishioners and the people generally.
