Funeral of John Higgins

The remains for John Higgins, killed at Headford, were removed by the military to Tuam barracks on Sunday. On Monday evening they were taken to the Cathedral, attended by a large number of mourners. Deceased was a brother of Mr. Martin Higgins, D. U., Ballytrasna, Tuam. He was for years in the Sinn Fein movement, and took an active part in the fighting against the British. There was High Mass in the Cathedral on Tuesday morning for the repose of his soul, and the interment took place in the family burial ground, Kilbannon, and was very largely attended to by general public.
For the second week in succession the monthly meeting of Tuam Town Commissioners had to be adjourned for want of a quorum. Only two members attended the first night, and on Tuesday evening last three attended — Messrs O'Malley, Garvey and Burke.
Mr. Frank Hugh O'Donnell, son of the late John O'Donnell, Esq., merchant, Tuam, was visiting his friends and relations in Milltown this Easter. He is a prominent young man in the commerical world in Dublin and also in the literary line, having written some plays produced in the Abbey Theatre.
Galway Civic Guards are making investigations with a view to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the cutting of the tails of eight cattle, the property of Mr. John Cullinane, farmer, Ballybane, and two, the property of Mr. Henry Grealish.
