Mr. De Valera — Announcement of Arrest Without Foundation
Dublin, Wednesday.
The announcement made in Dublin today that Mr. de Valera and Mr. Dan Breen had been arrested last night is without foundation.
In a Stop Press Edition of the "Evening Herald" the following appeared.
"We learn on good authority today that Mr. de Valera and Mr. Dan Breen were captured near Clonmel last night.
An "Evening Telegraph" representative made inquires at Army Headquarters, Portobello, and was informed that no news of the capture had reached there. Telephone communications with the O.C. Headquarters, Clonmel, elicited the information that the report was incorrect.
Later an official communication from Army Headquarters Portobello, stated that the report was incorrect.
An Appeal to Saints and Sinners Alike
For the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus I Appeal to all for Funds to roof the Roundstone Church. A few weeks ago the roof was practically blown away and the walls damaged. The people of the district are down and out as the fishing is nil for the last three years. They have given generously of the only thing they can give — viz work.
I, therefore, Appeal to all to do something to help to roof a House for Jesus. He will repay you as He alone knows how to do so well. The Archbishop of Tuam sends a cheque for £50 and blesses those who contribute towards the good work.
