Description:
Proprietor Daniel McNevin, Esq., No. 5 Middle Gardiner Street, Dublin. Middleman, Mr. Couge, Rose Parks. who holds under a lease of lives, and sublets it to 32 occupying tenants at will, at the yearly rent of 25s per acre. County Cess 3s. per acre. Tithe withheld by the tenants. Size of farms from 2 to 4 acres. Soil rocky and sandy. Usual crops:- wheat, oats and potatoes. Fuel Plenty. Prevailing names Daly and Couge. The greater part of this townland occupied by Middleman, who lives in Rose Park House. One school here established in 1835, consisting of 35 boys and 25 girls. All Roman Catholics. Teacher [Unable to read.] by the scholars. Authority John Fahy.
Situation:
In the North West of the parish of Beagh, Barony of Kiltartan, County Galway. North of a river, South of a road leading from Kilkeedy to Shanaglish village, and East and West of a road leading from Gort to Ennis, close to Ashfield Demesne.
