Description:
Proprietor Thomas G. Bateman, Esq., Atteville, Rathcale. Agent Thomas Stevitt, Esq., Limerick. This land is in the hands of prop. having no person on it but a caretaker. This land is both bushy, rocky and bad, part of it arable pasture and meadow. At the western boundary is Englishman’s Island and Anglingham Marble Quarry. The north part is a pasture flooded in winter. The S. part is rocky with some underwood and the ruins of an old building formerly the residence of Mr. Bateman’s ancestor.
Situation:
N.W. of the parish. Bounded on North by the parish of Claregalway, on E. by Coarsefield and Kilroghter, on S. and S.W. by Menlo and on W. and N.W. by Lough Corrib.

Translation according to P. W. Joyce:
Gortadullisk in Galway; field of the dillesk or dulse (edible sea-plant): see vol. ii. p. 346 [reproduced below].
Dillesk. The sea plant called in Gaelic duileasg is well known all over Ireland by the anglicised names dillesk, dullisk, and dulsk; it grows on rocks round the coast, and is eaten after being dried. Women hawk it in bakets about the streets of Dublin. There is a Dullisk Cove near Newcastle in the county Down; and a Dillesk Point on the Kerry side of the Shannon opposite Carrigaholt. Duileasg-na-habhan [dillesk-na-hown] is the name given to a sort of broad-leaved pond-weed - not marine; and from this we have Killadullisk, the name of a little river and of a townland through which it flows, four or five miles west of Eyrecourt in Galway - the coill or wood of the dillesk.
