This parish in its greatest extent from E. to W. is about 5¾ British miles and from N. to S. 3¾ British miles nearly. It is divided into 24 townlands. The principal roads leading through this parish are from Ballinacoortia and Gort to Galway. The nearest market towns are Claranbridge and Galway.

In the Barony of Dunkellin and Co. Galway. Bounded on the North by the parish of Oranmore, on E. by Stradbally and on S. and W. by the sea.
