Description:
Proprietor Augustus John O’Neil, Esq., Bunnowen Castle, Clifden. Agent John R Berwick, Esq., Ballinahinch or Dublin. Rent £108 per year. No lease. Soil very rocky and part moory. Produces middling crops of potatoes and oats. Co. Cess 20¼d. paid half yearly for each of 16 acres. There is also some bog, in general farms which are not let by the acre have a great deal of waste of some sort rocks or bad qualities. Village names- Bunowenbeg, Creghrhan-nhee and Leana-an-thaggul. Loughasheely in mere of Manningmore, ocean South of townland. Glosshillaun 2 islands in the sea, Ilaun-na-lauba Mill Lough runs on mere of Bunownmore road.
Situation:
In the South side of the parish bounded on the North by Loughanassert and townland Manninmore, West by Emlogharran and Bunnowenmore, South by the Atlantic Ocean and on the East by Ballyconneely. In the Barony of Ballinahinch and Co. of Galway.
